The Oilers got the victory yesterday as I hoped, and have tied the series up at 2-2 as it heads back to Dallas.
It was a much-needed, resounding victory by the Oilers and they’ll be able to head to the great state of Texas with a lot of confidence in them.
Another series tied 2-2 is the Rangers vs Panthers series, which will see Game 5 in New York tonight.
Game 1 here saw the Panthers win 3-0, then every game since has been extremely tight. Are we in for another tight one?
Here are our thoughts:
Scott: It’s a best of 3 series now.
It was the 3rd straight game in this series that needed overtime and the first time the Panthers won one in extra time.
The Rangers took a penalty early in OT and it didn’t take the Panthers long to score. Special teams played a big roll in game 4 with the Panthers going 2 for 4 with the man advantage and the Rangers 1 for 3.
Both goalies were good as expected and this series has been a fun one to watch. With this game in New York it’s not really a huge advantage as these teams traded wins in the first 2 games there in this series.
I think the Panthers will have momentum here. They knew they couldn’t lose game 4 or risk having the series end for them in New York. They now have a chance to take the lead and win it in game 6 in Florida.
Panthers win incl overtime
Graeme: Unfortunately, side wise not really seeing anything here. My thoughts have been summed up: this series is very close to 50/50 and so I’m looking for value. Panthers are favourites, but Rangers are only 2.05 so not seeing any value on them there.
Looking at the series as a whole, the over isn’t that tempting either. Not just the goals record, but the xG record.
My gut says we see an early goal before 9:30 – but the value isn’t there for a bet.
No Bet
I’m off this game. Last game was such poor play in many ways that I get no confidence looking at stats for picking a team, Over/Under or props.
