There were no really close games yesterday, as we saw a few dominant performances in the Game 2’s.

The Oilers, Wild and Lightning all bounced back with some strong performances. The Bruins just look lost, and it’s going to be a very interesting game 3.

Love seeing how feisty the games are as well. And big props to Mike Smith for the shutout. That was pretty cool as he took a lot of slack after that last match.

Let’s check out the Game 2’s taking place on May 5th, 2022:

Rangers vs Penguins Betting Tips:

Scott: Wow. Game 1 was insane. The Rangers scored the 1st two goals and the Pens answered with 2 of their own. They traded goals and were tied 3-3 after the 2nd. The Rangers had a goal disallowed for goalie interference and that one was debatable. Penguins starter DeSmith left the game in the 2nd OT and Domingue came in. This game needed triple overtime to be completed. Shesterkin made 79 saves in the loss.

It looks like this is going to be a great series. The Rangers can’t let the Penguins win both games in New York before the series moves to Pittsburgh. The Pens already had Jarry out and now DeSmith so who knows how they will do if Domingue is starting.

I like Rangers to win incl OT but the best bets for that are 1.62 and there’s just not enough value there. Can’t take them in regulation as just don’t feel confident in it so no bet.

Graeme: Have to agree with Scott in that I am not seeing value in this one really. Shesterkin had to stand on his head in that last game man. Makes me lean on Penguins but then with Domingue in net – that mixes things up a lot. Rangers really should win this one.

Actually you know what – I look at this one and I see like a Rangers 2-0 or 3-0 victory, despite the Penguins offense. Rangers are decent against the empty net as well. I’m going to take a shot here on Rangers -1.5. I think there’s enough value there. I really don’t thin they showed up in Game 1 too much. Pens had that big surge in the 2nd. I think we see a better performance from the Rangers tonight and as long as they don’t panic, they should be able to tie this series up.

Like I said it’s a gamble but at the odds, I feel fine taking it.

Panthers vs Capitals Betting Tips:

Scott: The Panthers lost game one 4-2. I have high hopes for the Panthers this postseason and even though they loss game one I still think they can advance.

With them still at home they need to win here as you can’t let the Caps go up 2-0. They led the league in goals scored during the regular season so the Panthers will need some of that for game 2.

The odds are low for a Panthers win, even in regulation, and with them losing the 1st game I’m going to skip this one as I’m not comfortable doing -1.5

No Bet

Graeme: A disappointing start from the Panthers. I said in my series prediction that this is the type of crap Washington love – just playing spoiler. Going against a strong favourite and just showing up. An excellent performance by Washington.

I cannot believe the odds on Washington. I’ve had to look to make sure there wasn’t some glaring injury or something I am missing out on. I know Wilson is game time and probably won’t play but um yeah this just seems a nice value play for me. I said it in the series predictions – Caps are a darn good road team. Panthers will be feeling the pressure, and the Caps could thrive on it.

I think Panthers win but man at these odds hell yeah give me Capitals incl OT all day long.

Avalanche vs Predators Betting Tips:

Scott: The Avalanche went to work and won the 1st game 7-2. With the Preds having to start Rittich and having him pulled early after giving up 5 goals they had to turn to Ingram.

It was complete domination from the Avs here and I don’t see that stopping for game 2. But will they beat them with the ease they did in game one? To get any value it has to be Avalanche -2.5. I wouldn’t be surprised if they covered but it’s the playoffs and I can’t back that.

No Bet

Graeme: Yep – Game 1 was exactly what I feared. Like I said in the series predictions, I really wanted to back the Preds +2.5 but my concern was with Saros out, Avs would do – well, exactly what they did in Game 1.

No surprise the Preds both goals was off high danger chances. I said that in my series write-up it would happen.

I expect similar here. There’s nothing the Preds can do to stop the Avs really. It’s not like you can look back at that game and be like “oh if we just tweak this we’re good”.

I’m not a fan of the odds on the over – but screw it, going to back it here. I think Avs continue to do what they do best, while the Preds knock in a couple of high danger goals as expected, and we get a good high scoring game.

Flames vs Stars Betting Tips:

Scott: Game one was a close and tight one. The Flames scored early in the 1st period and won they game 1-0. This game got emotional at the end of the 1st when two fights broke out.

The Stars only had 16 shots and if they want to stay in this series they will have to fond a way to get more pucks on net. But the Flames fans were loud and proud and they will be ready for game 2.

Graeme: It was a solid enough game by Dallas. Both teams played solid defensively. Stars I think just looked like they would be happy with a result like this.

It’s funny though the way games like this can go because you can see it just sparking off and both teams losing all discipline etc and it all going to hell in a handbasket, as they say.

Still – thought Calgary were the better team. Their offensive metrics were good, they seemed comfortable and confident.

I don’t hate Flames in regulation. The odds just aren’t there for me. After Game 1, you’d think the under would be a good one but I’m cautious with that – like I said, the penalties could be flowing and really changes the game. Plus I think we see Dallas open up a bit more here.
