Yesterday we covered the fake fighting and today we’ll cover the real fighting with UFC 249 taking place tonight.
Already some mad controversy involving it. Jacare Souza tested positive for the coronavirus and is out of his match-up with Uirah Hall. Two of his cornermen tested positive too. Dana is of course trying to spin this into a positive. Let’s hope it’s limited to just that small group otherwise things could end up being a disaster.
It’s an interesting setup they have. There will be 2 fighters fighting at the arena, while there will be 2 other fighters in the arena warming up.
When a fight ends, 2 more fighters will head to the arena from the hotel. They’ll go warm up while the ones warming up go to fight, and the ones that fought go back to the hotel.
It’s an interesting setup for sure. It’ll be interesting to see how this actually impacts the fights. Hopefully it means a bit more sloppiness and people being more aggressive so we get some bangers.
I’ve got my betting tips for this nights card. I was actually going to tip Jacare to beat Urijah Hall so that one is a bit gutting. But that’s okay still quite a few other fights to cover.
UFC 249 Betting Tips:
First up I am backing Tony Ferguson to win via finish. This can be KO, TKO or submission. Dude is a crazy bastard and I think has enough to take Gaethje out here. We might see the first two round sgo Gaethjes way but I like Ferguson to take over the fight and get the win probably in the 3rd or 4th round.
I’m also on the underdog Michelle Waterson. She lost to JJ but I think she is the type of fighter that will bounce back from that. She’s better on her feet, and even if Esparza takes her down Waterson is very tricky especially on her back and I like her to get the win here as long as the JJ loss didn’t crush her mentally.
My final bet is on Pettis to win. Yeah you can never count out Cerrone but Pettis is the type of striker that he normally struggles with. And I mean the guy was taken out by shoulder strikes last time out so there’s a good chance he is regressing a fair bit.
