Profitability wise it may not be the best idea, but one thing I always enjoy doing is betting on NHL Futures Props. Primarily when it comes to players.
The reason it’s not +EV is because it’s a long season (usually) and a lot can impact it. Injuries, coaching changes, drama, teams just not playing the way you’d expect etc.
But it can be fun to have a few props going on just to keep you entertained during the season. it also CAN be +EV if you think there is someone who the sportsbooks are underrating etc. I mean you theoretically know your team better than the linesmakers so there may be some good opportunities for you.
In this post I am going to outline the props available and what sportsbooks are offering them for anyone looking to bet future props for the season. I’ll list one sportsbook per country based on what one I feel is better odds wise.
NHL 2020/21 Prop: Most Fights
Yes you can bet on most fights in a division. Amazing eh? For example in the West you can bet Deslauriers as the favourite at 1.66 odds followed by Reaves at the Knights.
What a prop to bet on.

NHL 2020/21 Prop: Top Goalscorer
This prop bet is of course betting on the top goalscorer over the course of the entire NHL season. Depending on the sportsbook this may include the playoffs so that’s obviously something to factor in.
At the majority of sportsbooks, Auston Matthews is favourite followed by Ovechkin and the two lads from the Oilers.

I should note for the “Everyone Else” category you can do head to head. For example who will score more – Matthews or Ovechkin. That is available at 888 Sports.
NHL 2020/21 Prop: Top Point Scorer:
This is of course the player who will get the most points during the season. Points are a combination of goals and assists.
McDavid is a decent favourite at most sportsbooks followed by MacKinnon and Draisaitl. The rest are a ways behind them with guys like Auston Mathews heavy underdogs. The different divisions this season may open up some interesting opportunities for this one.

NHL 2020/21 Prop: Player Awards
We already covered this in this article and this article but betting on player awards such as the Art Ross, Hart Memorial, Rocket Richard and Calder are bets you can make at various sportsbooks.

NHL 2020/21 Prop: Specific Player Team Props
Want to make props on a specific team? Habs fan and think Tatar will be the top scorer for the Habs? Or that Suzuki will get the most points?

NHL 2020/21 Prop: Player Over/Unders
Many sportsbooks offer up the ability to bet on over/unders related to players. For example the over/under on points Jeff Petry will get or the over/under on points Elias Pettersson will get.

NHL 2021 Prop: Team Point Over/Unders
Similar to the above – you can bet on the over/under for the amount of team points that a team will get this season during the regular season.
A fun season long prop. I usually love to bet the under on a few teams and then cheer against them. Fun bet to last all season long.

NHL 2021 Prop: To Make the Playoffs
Pretty simple one this – bet whether or not a team will make the playoffs. Of course certain teams will have crap odds but there is value to be had for sure.
