Well it was a busy night of action yesterday with 13 games. For the tips we went 1-1.
We had the Stars to continue their strong play and win in regulation against the Canucks and they did just that when they won 6-1. The Stars extended their point streak to 9 games and also picked up their 4th win in a row. Jamie Benn scored twice and he now has 3 goals over his last 2 games after scoring only once over the first 20 games.
We also had the Lightning to beat the Blues. The Bolts scored first but the Blues tied it late in the 2nd. They added 2 more in the 3rd, including and empty net goal, and beat the Lightning 3-1. Lightning forward Pat Maroon was part of the Blues cup winning team last year and before the game he received his championship ring on the ice from Blues GM Doug Armstrong. A video montage and the fans cheering made that a pretty memorable moment for all watching.
The Golden Knights beat the Leafs 4-2 and with the win Knights goalie Marc-Andre Fleury picked up the 450th win of his career. He made an incredible diving save on an open net to keep the lead late in the game. This was the Leafs 6th straight loss. For the 8th time in a row the Leafs allowed the first goal of the game. As a fan of Mike Babcock I hate to say it but it may be time for the Leafs to move on and try and save their season.
We went with the Grand Salami for the poll question. It was 80.5 and it was a close night but it stayed under with 79 goals being scored.
Well we are back to another slow night of NHL action with only two games. We couldn’t find anything we liked enough to make a tip
Game Thoughts:
Senators vs Canadiens – I like to think that the Canadiens can come out of this game as winners but they played in Columbus last night. The Sens have gone 6-4 over their last 10 games so they have been playing their best hockey so far this season.
Capitals vs Rangers – I initially liked the Over 6.5 for this game but the odds weren’t good enough to make it a play. The Caps have been playing some great hockey and its a game like this against a frustrated Rangers team that have me weary of backing them.
