Only one game last night, Utah was in Toronto to play the Leafs.
The Leafs were down 1-0 after the 1st but managed to score 3 times in about 5 minutes and held on for the 3-2 win. Marner scored twice which is always nice to see the Leafs scapegoat coming through for the team that doesn’t always appreciate him.
15 games, to 1 last night now back to 11 tonight and then 2 tomorrow. Seems like the schedule maker is drunk.
Predators vs Devils
Predators need to gain some traction and get moving in the standings. They are in 7th in the Central, 3-5-2 in last 10 and on the road are 2-5-3.
The Devils are in 1st in the Metro, have won 2 straight are 7-3-0 in last 10 and at home have gone 5-3-2.
The Preds have slightly better Corsi numbers but the Devils have the advantage in SF, SA, GF, GA and XGF and against.
Devils win in regulation

Knights vs Flyers
The Knights have had a good season so far. They are in 1st in the Pacific, are 6-3-1 in last 10 and 5-4-2 on the road.
The Flyers are struggling. They’re in 7th in Metro, 5-4-1 in last 10 and at home they are 5-6-0.
If the Knights were at home this would be an easy play for them to win as they have gone 8-2-0 in Vegas but 5-4-2 on the road.
I do think that the Knights should win this game but it would need to be in regulation and the Flyers have had 5 of their last 8 games go to extra time which has me put off of having a play for this game.
Stars vs Hurricanes
A common theme for tonight’s action is games having plenty of potential.
The Stars are in 3rd in the Central, on a 2 game win streak and 6-4-0 in last 10. On the road they have gone 5-4-0.
The Canes have lost their last 2 games are in 2nd in the Metro, are 6-3-1 in last 10 and at home are 7-1-0.
The Canes are really dealing with some goalie issues. Andersen had knee surgery and will be out for 2-3 months and Kochetkov accidentally got hit in the head by a teammate in their last game and will miss time.
The Canes are probably going to use Spencer Martin while they explore the market looking for goalie help. Teams can sometimes rally around a goalie as the team knows strong play goes a long way towards success. I would lean a Stars win but I’ll just avoid this game with the Canes at home.
Capitals vs Panthers
Without Ovechkin the Caps have been struggling. They have lost 2 in a row.
The Panthers are also struggling riding a 3 game losing skid into this.
With both teams results of late its hard to have faith in either team right now.
Blues vs Rangers
The Blues have a new coach when they signed Montgomery after he was let go by the Bruins.
Always tough to try and predict how a team will respond to a coaching change.
Rangers on a 2 game skid so also not playing very well which makes them tough to back. They are 5-3-1 at home which is a winning record but just barely.
Again the new coach for the Blues makes this a tough game to predict.
Avalanche vs Lightning
On paper this should be a great game.
The Avalanche are 7-3-0 last 10 and on a 3 game win streak. The Lightning are 4-4-2 in last 10 and have lost their last 2 games.
They played once at the end of October with the Lightning winning 5-2.
Similar records for where they are playing with the Avalanche going 6-3 on the road and the Lightning 6-2-1 at home.
Odds for this are a coin toss so much like the sportsbooks I have no idea who wins here.
Wings vs Islanders
Both teams are under .500 so it’s tough to back either of them with how they have been playing.
Wings on the road are 4-5-1 and the Isles at home have gone 3-3-2.
I’m passing.
Flames vs Senators
The Flames at home are 9-3-0 but on the road they have gone 3-3-3. Makes them hard to back with so little to go by. But they are on a 4 game winning streak
The Sens are on a 5 game losing skid and are 5-5-1 at home.
The Flames road play hasn’t been great and it think that’s why they are the underdogs here. Looking at the results a team on a 4 game win streak vs a team on a 5 game skid and it shouldn’t be this hard to find a winner. 5 of the Flames last 9 games have needed extra time which has me a little worried.
The Flames have the better CF but the Sens have a much better CA. The Sens have better shots for and against numbers, it’s tied for goals for and against and the expected goals data is also really close.
I’ve talked myself out of taking the Flames to win now.
Jets vs Wild
Big game here.
The Jets are in 1st in the Central with 34 points in 21 games, the Wild are in 2nd with 30 points in 20 games.
They played once at the start of the season and it was the Wild winning that one 2-1 in overtime.
Jets on the road have gone 8-3-0 but Wild at home 4-2-1. Advantage goes to Jets there.
Just with both teams at the top of the standings it’s tough to find a winner. The Wild have better Corsi numbers, same numbers for shots for and against, the Jets have the advantage in goals for and against and expected goals for and against.
I have to pass here. The data didn’t help me make a decision.
Kraken vs Ducks
Both teams lost their last game.
They will play each other again on Wednesday with the venue switching to Seattle.
Both teams are playing about .500 hockey. The Kraken are 10-10-1 and 5-5 in last 10. The Ducks are 8-8-3 and 4-4-2 last 10.
Both teams have losing records for where they are playing with the Kraken going 3-6 on the road and the Ducks 4-5-1 at home.
Kings vs Sharks
Kings have had a decent season so far. They are 11-7-3 and in 3rd in the Pacific. The Sharks are on a 3 game losing skid which is kind of expected with this club this year. They are 3-4-3 in last 10.
This is the 3rd meeting between these teams this season with both teams winning 1 so far.
I do like the Kings chances here. They have better numbers in corsi and fenwick, scoring more and allowing less and have better expected goals numbers too.
Would have to take the Kings -1.5 on the road which isn’t something I feel like doing.

Canes shoot more and concede less shots than Stars, and they’re at home. I think this will be the difference maker in this one, despite their goalie troubles.
