Only 2 games yesterday.
The Canucks shutout the Bruins 2-0 and DeBrusk scored the first goals of the game against his former team. The other game was Utah beating the Habs 3-2 in OT.
So many games today, 15 to be exact, that I’ll try my best to spend as much time as I can with these but I do have stuff to do.
Blues vs Devils
Blues won their first game with Montgomery as their head coach so they, like the Bruins, may be riding the momentum of the new coach.
The Devils have gone 8-2 in last 10 and are on a 3 game win streak. They are in 1st in the Metro.
Statistically speaking the Devils are ranked much better where the come in 6th in GPG, GAPG and SOGA. Blues are ranked in the high 20s pretty mush across the board.
Just the new coach stuff has me worried to make a play on this game.
Rangers vs Hurricanes
The Rangers are struggling at the moment. There’s talk they are exploring trading some key players and soon to try and keep themselves from falling to far.
The Canes are dealing with goalie issues. They did win their last game with Martin in goal but I’m not sure how long they can keep that up.
Two strong teams who are facing and taking their lumps at the moment but I’d rather just sit back and watch instead of tip this game.
Wild vs Sabres
The Wild are on a 2 game losing skid but are still in 2nd in the Central. Luckily for them they are on the road here where they have been good going 9-1-3.
The Sabres have won 3 in a row but it wasn’t against the toughest competition; the Sharks, Ducks and Kings.
The data for these teams is actually much closer than I thought it would be. Basically tied in Corsi, Fenwick, SF and SA separated by 1, GF is the Sabres and XGF and XGA is the Wild.
So many questions about this game.
Capitals vs Lightning
The Caps got back into the win column. They’ll need to find a way to keep that going as Ovie is still going to be out for at least a month.
The Lightning are 4-4-2 in last 10. Cirelli is riding a 6 game goal streak. They need to get some consistency to their game as they have shown they are capable of running the score up.
I’m not touching the Caps right now so it would need to be the Lightning in regulation and 2 of their last 4 needed OT so I’m put off of this game.
Bruins vs Islanders
Bruins played last night and were shutout by the Canucks. They are 4-4-2 in last 10 and 4-5-1 on the road.
The Isles haven’t had a good season so far. They are 4-3-3 in last 10 and 8-9-5 overall. Even at home they are 3-4-2. Just nothing to get excited about
With the Bruins playing yesterday and the Isles not having a great season so far I’m avoiding.
Leafs vs Panthers
Big game here between the #1 and #2 teams in the Atlantic.
The Leafs should use this game as a way to push their win streak to 5 games. It’s a concern for me though when you see their road record is 3-3-2 which isn’t encouraging at all.
The Panthers have lost their last 4 games. They need to get back into the win column and soon as going 4-6 in last 10 isn’t helping. At home they have gone 6-5-1
The Leafs have a bunch of key players out at the moment so the Panthers may use this game to turn things around.
Personally I’ll be taking the Leafs but I don’t have enough confidence to make it a tip.
Canucks vs Penguins
Canucks played last night and shutout the Bruins 2-0.
The Penguins continue to struggle. They are on a 3 game losing skid, are 2-5-3 over their last 10 and are 4-6-2 at home. Statistically they rank near the bottom in GPG, GAPG and SOGA which isn’t going to cut it.
Canucks played last night and Pens struggling I’m passing.
Canadiens vs Jackets
Habs played and lost in overtime yesterday. The Jackets are on a 3 game win streak.
2 of the Jackets 3 wins came in extra time so they haven’t been winning with ease and they are ranked 29th in GAPG so just not getting any confidence from this team.
Flames vs Wings
Flames have lost their last 4 road games straight. The Wings are 4-5-1 at home.
With Flames struggling on the road and Wings not very good at home I have no idea who wins this game.
Flyers vs Predators
Nothing here.
Stars vs Blackhawks
Stars are the obvious favorites here. We would have to take them -1.5 and they are on the road where they have gone 5-5. I don’t see enough value in taking the Stars with their road record.
Ducks vs Kraken
Nothing I like here.
Knights vs Avalanche
Knights are on a 3 game win streak but are on the road where they have gone 6-4-2. At home they have been much better going 8-2-0. They are in 1st in the Pacific.
The Avalanche are 7-3 in last 10, are in 4th in the Central and are 6-6 at home.
Avs have better Corsi and Fenwick numbers, Knights shooting more and allowing more and the Avs are scoring more and are expected to score more too.
This is a tough game to call a winner for. But the Knights are ranked 4th in GPG and 17th in GAPG and the Avalanche are 9th in GPG and 31st in GAPG.
The played on October and the Knights won that one 8-4. Knights last 2 games had totals of 9 and 8, Avs last 2 were 10 and 11.

Jets vs Kings
Jets are 7-3-0 in last 10 and 9-3 on the road. They are in 1st in the Central.
The Kings are in 4th in the Pacific, 5-5 in last 10 and 6-2-1 at home.
Kings have better Corsi and Fenwick numbers but the Jets are better in SF, SA and goals for and against. XGF is close but the Kings have much better XGA numbers.
Jets lead the league in GPG and GAPG but the Kings with the better Corsi and expected goals against. I could make a case for each team here so I’m avoiding.
Senators vs Sharks
The Sens won their last game but had lost 5 in a row before that.
The Sharks are coming off of that 7-2 win against the Kings but had lost 3 in a row and 6 of 7 before that.
With both teams struggles it’s hard to back either here.
