Malkin became the 48th player in NHL history to score 500 career goals and Crosby became the 10th player in NHL history to reach 1,600 when the Pens came back to beat the Sabres 6-5 in OT.
The Leafs beat the Kings 6-2 and Matthews finally got his 1st of the season. The Bruins beat the Avs 5-3 to move the Avs to 0-4 on the season. The final game of the night saw the Ducks beat Utah 5-4 in OT.
So Graeme has just been killing it with the tips and I’ll do my best but he has set the bar really high

Devils vs Senators
Devils come into this game 4-2. They beat the Sabres twice, Utah and the Caps. The Sens are 2-1 after beating the Panthers 2-1 and the Kings 8-7 in overtime.
The numbers for the Sens are a little off thanks to that 8-7 game in there. The Devils have better numbers in the GF and GA/60. Ullmark is hurt so Forsberg should get the start.

Knights vs Lightning
Both teams are off to decent starts. The Knights are 3-1 and the Lightning are 2-0. It’s a small number of games so it’s hard to read to far into it.
The Knights will be without Olofsson who’s out with a leg injury and he has been helpful for them scoring 3 times in 4 games.
With the Lightning having played only two games it’s hard to find much data to help make a pick. As of today they have a better CF but the Knights have the better CA. I have to pass on this one.
Canucks vs Panthers
The Canucks have been playing like shit and need to turn things around quickly. It’s still early in the season but they are off to a 0-1-2 start. The Panthers won their 1st game, dropped the next 2 and are riding a 2 game win streak into this game.
For GF/60 the Panthers are killing them but for GA the Canucks have a slight edge and the expected goals for and against and close too. The Panthers are without Barkov and Tkachuk so if the Canucks want a win they should use this game to do so when they are missing two huge pieces. But no confidence in them at the moment so I’m passing.
Stars vs Capitals
The Stars are off to a great start going 4-0 with 2 shutouts already. The Caps are 1-1 beating the Knights and losing to the Devils.
I want to take the Stars here as I think they are going to be a tough team to beat this season. But the Caps have better numbers in GF/60, XGF and XGA.
I would have to take the Stars -1.5 which should come through but it’s the metrics that have me worried and put off of tipping this game. I’ll be kicking myself for missing out on this one.
Kings vs Canadiens
The Kings got their asses kicked by the Maple Leafs yesterday and have lost 3 straight. The Habs are 2-2 beating the Leafs and Sens and losing to the Bruins and Pens.
The Kings have better numbers in CF, CA but have lost 3 in a row so not sure i can back them plus they played last night.
Sabres vs Jackets
The Sabres lost a close one to the Pens yesterday 6-5 in overtime. The Jackets are 1-2 but were able to keep both losses within 1 goal so they aren’t getting destroyed.
Not really seeing anything from these teams right now to have a tip from this game.
Rangers vs Wings
Rangers are favored here. These teams just played each other on Monday and the Rangers won that one 4-1.
Looking at the data. Rangers are better in CF, GF, GA and XGF.

Islanders vs Blues
Tough game to call here.
Even the numbers aren’t helping as they’re close in Corsi, SA/60, GF and GA/60.
Easy pass for me.
Oilers vs Predators
The Oilers did pick up their first win beating the Flyers 4-3 in overtime. They haven’t been the team many, myself included, expected them to be. The Preds are 0-3 on the season and their big fish they pulled in during the off-season Stamkos has yet to register a point.
Just not sure if I can back either team here so early in the season with the way both have been playing.
Sharks vs Blackhawks
It’s really tough to back either team here. They are the last 2 teams to win the draft lottery.
I’m fine skipping this one as the data supports both teams depending on the category.
Flyers vs Kraken
On the road the Flyers are 1-1-1 and haven’t exactly been showing us any reason to back them. The beat the winless Canucks and gave the Oilers their first win of the season.
The Kraken are at home here where they have played only once and lost. I do lean towards a Kraken win but it’s would need to be in regulation and I don’t have the confidence in them yet to make that a play.
