Three games yesterday and we didn’t have a tip.  And after seeing the results I’m glad I stayed away.

The Panthers beat the Flyers 4-3 in a close game.  The shots were 35-34 Panthers so it was a great effort from Philly who took their first loss of the season here.

Another close game was the Jets vs the Avalanche where the Jets won 4-3 in overtime. Pionk scored twice for the Jets including the overtime winner.

The final game of the night was the Blues vs the Kraken and this was yet another close one with the Blues winning 4-3 in overtime. Like the Jets vs Avs game it was another defenseman who scored twice including the overtime winner this time it was Faulk for the Blues.

Back to another busy night with 12 games and another night where the odds make it tricky.

Predators vs Jackets

Just nothing I like for this game.  The Predators, like last year, are a team I’m not comfortable betting for or against and tend to avoid their games altogether.

Capitals vs Senators

The Sens are coming into this game after that goal fest a couple nights ago against the Bruins.

The Caps dropped their first 2 games but have won their last 2.  And Ovechkin scored twice so when he’s on this team can’t be taken lightly.

The Sens are going to be better this year but this is against a Caps team who are on a 2 game win streak and are expected to have a good season.

Caps win incl OT/SO

Coyotes vs Canadiens

This game features two teams that aren’t expected to do much this year.

The Coyotes are 1-2 after they beat the Leafs on Monday.   The Habs are 2-2 with wins against the Leafs and Pens.

The Habs are favored here and if I was to take them I would have to take them in regulation so I am skipping.

Sharks vs Rangers

The Sharks are 0-5 and now get to take on the Rangers in New York.

I think the Rangers are a team that is going to do damage this season and when they take on a struggling team like the Sharks they should pounce at the opportunity to flex.

But it’s another game where the odds make it a tough play.  I like the Rangers to win but it has to be -1.5.  I think they can do it but the odds for that are only 1.90 so it’s not really worth the risk.  It would be better if it was a regulation play but those odds are bad.

Stars vs Leafs

The Stars are 3-0 after beating the Jets and the Preds twice.  The Leafs are 2-2 and haven’t looked very good losing to the Coyotes, lol, and the Canadiens and beating the Caps and Sens.

This is the Leafs last home game before the head on the road to play their next 5.

I want to take the Leafs here as I think they need to have a strong showing before heading out on the road.  But the Stars have been good so far.  If I was to take the Leafs it would need to be in regulation and 3 of their 4 games so far were 1 goal games which has me put off of this one.

Ducks vs Bruins

The Ducks are 1-3 and the Bruins 3-1.  The Bruins will be looking to get back into the win column after losing to the Sens in that goal fest.

I like the Bruins to win this game but I would need to take them in regulation which would just barely be over our minimum.  And now that they have their 1st loss does the Marchand injury become a problem.  I have to skip

Kings vs Penguins

The Kings have won 3 in a row but the last two needed extra time to be completed and the other was a 7-6 win against the Wild.  The Pens are coming off of their first loss of the season when the got beat in OT against the Habs.

The Kings have shown that they can score but can’t run away from anyone.  I know it’s still early but it may be something to keep an eye on.
I like the Pens chances to win but it has to be in regulation and with the Kings on a 3 game win streak and their last two needing extra time I can’t back that.

Devils vs Islanders

This game has nothing I like.  The Devils won their last game and the Isles are riding a 2 game win streak.

If I had to pick a team to win I would lean towards the Isles but I don’t have enough confidence in them to make it a tip.

Canucks vs Wild

The Canucks are 0-4 and are the first team in NHL history to give up four straight multi-goal leads to start the season.  Not good.

But the Wild haven’t been any better.  They are 0-3 and have allowed 20 goals over that span.

One of these teams will get their first win of the season here but who that will be is anyones guess.  I would lean towards a Wild win but they have to stop allowing so many goals.

Hurricanes vs Oilers

The Canes are 3-0 but the wins came against some weaker teams the Jackets, Sharks and Kraken.

The Oilers are 1-2 and are starting a 4 game stretch against some tough competition.  After the Canes they get the Blues, Pens and Blues again.

The odds for a Canes win are good enough for me to take them

Canes win incl OT/SO

Sabres vs Flames

The Sabres are 2-1 and will have momentum after beating the Oilers in Edmonton.   The Flames are 3-0 and are at home for this one.

I like the Flames for this one but it’s another game where I would need to take them -1.5 but their last 2 games were decided by a single goal so I can’t do that this early in the season.

Jets vs Knights

The Jets played last night and won in OT.  They are 2-1 on the season.  The Knights are 3-1.

The Jets have been pretty good so far but it’s early.  They played last so fatigue may play into this.

The Knights are favored here and to get a y value we need them in regulation.

The Jets are tough to predict so I’m skipping.

Thanks Scott. Haven’t had time for deep dive into all games yet, but starting the day with some plays on Bruins-Ducks. This should be a pretty entertaining game with young, skilled players on both sides. Bs are heavily favored but I like the following:
over 6.5 (-120) – Bs o/u 4-0 Ducks o/u 3-1
Bs TT over 3.5 (-145) – Bs GF o/u 4-0 Ducks GA o/u 4-0
Trevor Zegras over .5 points (-106) – Z grew up in Connecticut which is mostly Bs territory and will have family and friends at the game. Prob money on the board too. He’s had 3 pts in 4 games.

boston regulation -150
ullmark starting for boston has been sharp. gibson has been up and down. anaheim has been outscored 17-7 in the first three games of the north east road trip and i can’t expect this will be the spot which they turn it around. boston has shown no problems scoring early on tallying 21 goals thru the first 4 games. anaheim missed bostons potential flat spot which was the ottowa game off the back to back with swayman in net in which boston fell behind 3-0 early and still showed some fight for at least a period. full effort here at home by boston should give them a comfortable regulation win.

Vancouver over 2.5 team total -150.
like the boston pick better You could see two conservative teams looking to make it through a first period without conceding multiple goals. But until i see it i have to ride the canucks scoring at least 3. Vancouvers issue hasn’t been scoring it’s been protecting the lead. Having hit the 3 goal mark in all but one game it’s hard to imagine an angry team still looking for its first win can’t do it again vs a team that’s given up 20 in the first 3 games. Fleury has been awful and i’m getting him again tonight. But more than fleury, gustavsson has also been bad as well. And when your team collectively is operating at a -48 with your top line that gets the most ice time being the biggest culprits maybe it’s a bigger issue than just the goalie. Even if they clean it up the 3 goal mark is still attainable and not far fetched for this motivated canuck team so it would take an absolute turn around overnight by the wild to keep them to 2 or less.
