Hi guys,
Whew – sorry about the lateness in the tips today. We were too busy enjoying ourselves outside. We’ve had a brutal Winter in Canada that still seems to be going on – but had a rare day of beautiful sunshine today and had to take the most of it.
Game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals will be an interesting one. Game 1 was really fascinating to watch and you can see the type of preparation that has went into this by both teams. The Kings struggled early to deal with the Rangers speed, but looked better as the game went on. Rangers were not able to react well to the Kings forechecking – and that cost them in the end. It will be interesting to see if they can handle that better tonight.
Before we discuss the game – the World Cup 2014 is just around the corner. We wanted to mention a few awesome sportsbook promotions going on:
- 888:£88 in free bets, and a £5 free bet every time your team scores, plus a £5 free bet every day.
- Boyle Sports: Get double the odds on the Winner of the World Cup. Also bet on the first goalscorer and win DOUBLE if they score in the first 20 minutes.
- Coral Get your money back if Brazil or Argentina win the World Cup.
- Paddy Power: Place a bet on the World Cup Winner, and get a free bet on the first game of the tournament. Also place a bet on the top goalscorer and get a free bet every time they score.
Those are 4 of the top ones – and that top goalscorer one at Paddy Power is tremendous because it means you’re essentially freerolling.
Okay let’s get onto hockey, shall we?
Kings vs Rangers Game 2 Betting Odds:
Rangers To Win: 2.35
Kings To Win: 1.64
Over 5 Goals: 2.05
Under 5 Goals: 1.80
.
Scott: What a great first game and even better way to kick off the 2014 Stanley Cup Finals.
It looked as the the Rangers had this game in the books when they jumped out to a 2-0 lead but the Kings scored the next 3, the last in OT from playoff legend Justin Williams, to win game 1.
Game 2 is going to be just as intense we can only hope.
For this game and all of the finals I like Under 5 goals. While it is essentially a coin toss, the 3 times these teams have met this year, 2 in regular season and 1 in the finals, all games have been low scoring with game 1 of the finals the only game hitting 5 goals. Unfortunately 1.80 odds on the Under 5 is probably not worth betting.
I was surprised by New York’s complete collapse during game one. They had a comfortable lead to only see it erased. This series could go long and I still like the Kings to hoist the Cup. But I like the Rangers chances in this one to at least rectify their game 1 mistakes.
I would also suggest betting that a goal will NOT be scored before 9:30. Game 1 was tight and I expect game 2 to be much of the same. The odds of this are GREAT at 1.86 odds at http://www.carbonsports.ag
Graeme: Usually I’d recommend the over based on the odds of over 2.00 but I’m staying away right now. Game 1 was testing a lot out – I want to see how Game 2 goes. This will be a big one – and I want to see if the Rangers can deal with the Kings forecheck.
I agree with Scott on this one – Goal NOT before 9:30. The goals in the first game were because Kings couldn’t adapt to the Rangers speed. Now they know how to it should be a lot tighter.
That’s our official bet tonight – available at http://www.Bovada.lv for Americans and http://www.Bodog.eu for everyone else..
