Well after a fun 4 Nations Face Off, the NHL returns today.
Honestly though – I don’t really see the point of doing tips at this time. First you’ve got quite a few players who will clearly be beat up/fatigued. Remember the mayhem years ago when the bye weeks were implemented? Now we have teams on a two week break!
So I’m going to take this weekend off (then I’ll be away next weekend for the Jackets/Wings Stadium Series game!)
If you’re betting anything this weekend, post below. I’ll probably back a few random underdogs myself – feel like a day like today will be more ripe for upsets than ever.
In saying that something to bear in mind – this next week is key. This is where we start to see the teams who are REALLY motivated to make the playoffs so those are the ones to focus on. The teams who will go into a cold and wet Buffalo on a back to back on a Wednesday night, and show up like it’s a Game 7.

Just not something really worth betting I felt from an actual +EV perspective. Enjoyed it a lot, wish Russia had been there of course to really amp up the stakes. The international situation with Canada/USA obviously added to it, although I felt like that didn’t play out on the ice like it could have (other than the first few seconds of the first game obviously).
Why do you wish Russia should have been there? Aren’t there some things bigger than hockey? I, myself, don’t think Russia has any place in any international (sports) competition until they stop their war of aggression
Because they have some of the best players and I would have liked to see them during the tournament.
